Rebecca Ngalande is a midwife, educator, researcher, and author of midwifery and other booklets. She is currently working with Seed Global Health as a visiting educator at Lira University. She believes that frontline midwives need to be equipped with knowledge and skills to manage families starting from pre-pregnant, perinatal as well as postpartum period with minimal discomfort. Rebecca specializes in maternal and neonatal health and teaches classroom, skills lab, theory, and clinical practice.

Rebecca’s primary area of interest is the pre-pregnancy and antepartum period as these are times families and couples are empowered with information on reproductive health.

She has participated in research studies as well as published and has a passion for qualitative research because in many African countries there is little body of knowledge in many areas and therefore in order to understand better, exploring is paramount. Rebecca has also participated in setting up professional bodies like the Association of Malawian Midwives. She has participated in the development of various trainings, reviewed programs, and developed curriculum.

She has three boys now all grown up and 3 grandchildren. Rebecca loves traveling and appreciating nature, writing small booklets on different professional topics and, of course, farming.  Rebecca was trained in Malawi, the UK, and the US. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Diploma of Education in Professional Development from Ulster University at Coleraine in Northern Ireland and a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois, School of Public Health.
