President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over the Lira University’s 7th Graduation ceremony slated for 21st November 2025.
In a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng, Lira University Management has invited the President to grace the graduation ceremony that will witness 448 graduands walking back home with their degree transcripts and certificates that day.
While addressing the University Council on 31st October 2025, Prof. Ogwal Okeng said the graduation preparations are in high gear as several invitation letters have already been dispatched to respective important guests.
As a public university, Prof. Ogwal Okeng noted, the University is committed to providing access to quality higher education, professional training, research and innovations for the delivery of appropriate services directed towards community transformation.
“Reports we get indicate that Lira University products(graduates) offer effective and efficient service delivery out there, at their workplaces,” he said.
Of the total graduands, 288 and 160 are males and females respectively. They are from faculties of; Education, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Management Sciences and Computing and Information Sciences.
While presiding over the University Council meeting, Mr. David Geoffrey Opiokello praised Lira University Management and staff for being effective and doing what it takes for the University to grow steadfast.
“As Council, we appreciate Management and other staff efforts in trying to put things right, ensuring effective implementation of planned activities despite challenges,” Mr. Opiokello said.
Unlike other universities, Lira University gives graduates their academic documents (Transcripts and Certificates) on the day of graduation ceremony so that they(graduates) can comfortably start competing for job opportunities.
