Alfred Acanga holds a masters degree in Development Studies from Bugema University. He is a Master Trainer with a Postgraduate Diploma in SGBV Rights and Justice (with Distinction) from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (ISS-EUR). He is also the male Gender Focal point person for Lira University at the Uganda Gender Equity in Research Association (GERA). He is the immediate out going Head of Department of the Public Administration and Management Department (2021 – 2023).

He is also a researcher with Roots and Wings Research and Development Organisation based in Nairobi. He also served as an external research consultant for the London School of Economics and Political Science (2023). He is currently a PhD Fellow under the E4Life Scholarship Program at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University.
His research interests include: Social Entrepreneurship, Renewable Energy Technologies, Climate Change & Food Security and Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights.
