Lira University Refutes the alleged Termination of LDC Lira Campus Tenancy

It has come to the attention of the Management of the Lira University, that a false and malicious rumour is currently circulating on several social media platforms claiming that the Law Development Centre(LDC)-Lira Campus, is closing its tenancy and that Lira University has purportedly refused to extend their tenancy contract Agreement or ordered them (LDC) to leave.

This is NOT true. And the University therefore strongly and unequivocally refutes such unfounded and false rumour. The claim is a calculated attempt to cause unnecessary hatred and panic, to the detriment of the University.

The truth is, as a responsible institution, we affirm that the Management of Lira University offered 5 acres of free land to LDC, five years ago, although not yet developed to date. We also rented out to LDC, part of a building for lectures and office space, with the Tenancy Agreement that expired in March 2026.

LDC Management again requested for the Tenancy Contract extension for 3 months (from 1st April – 30th June 2026), which Lira University accepted and the contract is currently running.

We therefore urge the general public, LDC parents and guardians, staff and students to disregard the circulating dangerous falsehood. LDC has never communicated to us (Lira University) that they plan to leave or close the Lira Campus.

We also appeal to those deliberately or inadvertently spreading these false stories to cease and desist forthwith.

Thank you,

Mr. Opio Patrick

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER/LIRA UNIVERSITY
