Lira University receives Medical Equipment from Poole Africa Link

Lira University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng has commended Poole Africa Link, a charity organisation based in UK, for supporting training of health care students and clinical services at the University Teaching Hospital.

After receiving several medical equipment delivered at the Hospital, Prof. Ogwal Okeng revealed that Poole Africa Link has always stood with Lira University, the reason Lira University Teaching hospital delivers effective and efficient service to its clients.

He added that the medical items always donated, aid teaching and learning process of students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the reason graduates from the University are skilful and globally competitive in job market.

Prof. Ogwal Okeng revealed that Poole Africa Link also supports health care training of staff and students. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life, “he idiomatically explains.

Anna Grace Auma, a lecturer in Health Sciences faculty, said that the partnership between Poole Africa Link and Lira University was started in November 2014, since then, the partnership has grown stronger by day.

Auma noted that the Organisation has been very supportive by providing training equipment and human resource in terms of Volunteers who come to teach twice a year. “Besides supporting Lira University Teaching Hospital, the organisation also donates medical equipment to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, “she reveals

Among the equipment supplied were oxygen concentrators, oxygen masks and tubes, Anaesthetic machine, biomedical tool kit, an emergency bag fully equipped, delivery kits and IPC. “Words cannot express our gratitude; may Poole Africa link be blessed always, “Auma appreciates.

Earlier, Poole Africa Link had supplied the University with biomedical tool kits, surgical face masks, theatre gowns, face shields, thermometers, medical textbooks, work wear polo tops and safety vests.

Others are peddling handwashing facilities, fabric masks, gumboots, polythene gowns, hand sanitizers and hand sprayer.
