You are most welcome to the website of the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration. This Office supports the Vice Chancellor in executing his duties and, in that capacity, oversees the financial and administrative functions of the University. We are mandated to provide strategic leadership and planning that advance the University’s mission and development agenda. Our responsibilities include the management of the University’s finances, budgeting processes, resource mobilisation, human resources, quality assurance, and facilities management.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Office of the DVC Finance

1. Overseeing Financial Management and Resource Utilization

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration is responsible for supervising the financial operations of the University to ensure accountability, transparency, and efficient utilization of resources. The office oversees budgeting, financial planning, expenditure control, procurement processes, and compliance with government financial regulations and University policies. It also ensures that financial resources are allocated effectively to support academic and administrative activities.


2. Supervising Administrative and Support Services

The office coordinates and monitors the administrative functions of the University to ensure smooth institutional operations. This includes overseeing departments such as Human Resources, Procurement, Estates and Works, Transport, Security, ICT, and other support services. The Deputy Vice Chancellor ensures that administrative systems are efficient, responsive, and aligned with the University’s strategic objectives.


3. Managing Human Resource Development and Staff Welfare

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration plays a key role in the management and development of University staff. Responsibilities include overseeing recruitment processes, staff training and development, performance management, staff welfare, and enforcement of institutional policies and procedures. The office also promotes professionalism, discipline, teamwork, and a conducive working environment within the University.


4. Supporting Institutional Planning and Development

The office contributes to the formulation and implementation of the University’s strategic plans, policies, and development programs. The Deputy Vice Chancellor coordinates institutional development projects, infrastructure expansion, and resource mobilization initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing the University’s capacity to fulfill its mandate effectively.


5. Ensuring Compliance, Accountability, and Risk Management

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration ensures that the University complies with relevant laws, regulations, audit requirements, and governance standards. The office works closely with internal and external auditors to strengthen accountability systems, minimize financial and operational risks, and promote proper management practices across the institution. It also ensures adherence to ethical standards and sound corporate governance principles.
