The Grants and Resource Mobilization function in the Directorate of Graduate studies & Research plays a vital role in securing funding for innovative research projects and initiatives. The function provides support and guidance to faculty, students, and staff in seeking out and obtaining external funding opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Office of the Grants Office
- Identifying Funding Opportunities. The office continuously scans for local and international grants, scholarships, research funds, and partnership opportunities that match the university’s strategic priorities.
- Supporting Proposal Development. It assists researchers and academic staff in preparing competitive grant proposals, including budgeting, writing guidance, compliance checks, and submission support.
- Ensuring Compliance With Donor Requirements. The Grants Office ensures proposals and funded projects adhere to donor guidelines, university policies, financial rules, and national regulatory frameworks.
- Managing Grant Applications and Submissions. The office coordinates the entire application process—from concept note development to final submission—while tracking deadlines and required documents.
- Budget Development and Review. It provides support in drafting accurate project budgets, aligning them with donor expectations, allowable costs, and university financial policies.
- Post-Award Grant Management. After a grant is awarded, the office supports implementation through financial tracking, expenditure monitoring, reporting, and communication with funding agencies.
- Coordinating Grant Agreements and Contracts. The office works with legal and finance departments to review, negotiate, and finalize grant agreements, MOUs, and partnership contracts.
- Monitoring Project Performance and Deliverables. It oversees progress reporting, timelines, and deliverables to ensure that projects are implemented according to approved work plans and donor expectations.
- Providing Capacity Building and Training. The Grants Office organizes training workshops for faculty, researchers, and students on grant writing, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
- Maintaining a Grants Database. The office keeps detailed records of all grant applications, awarded projects, donor communications, and reporting deadlines for institutional accountability.
