Christine Joy Abeja

Christine Joy Abeja is a passionate and highly experienced critical care nurse, lecturer, and health educator with over 20 years of progressive experience in clinical practice, nursing education, and health leadership. She currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Emergency Care at Lira University, where she teaches and mentors undergraduate & postgraduate nursing and midwifery students, supervises research, and leads curriculum development initiatives.

Christine Joy has extensive expertise in emergency and critical care, medical-surgical nursing, and community health, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice. She has held key leadership roles, including overseeing the Emergency Unit at Lira University Teaching Hospital. She held the position of Head of the Emergency Care Department. She served as the female staff representative to the University Senate, and she is also the Clinical Supervisor for Nurses and Midwives.

Her work extends beyond academia into community and health systems strengthening through collaboration with NGOs and the Ministry of Health. She has been actively involved in training healthcare workers in emergency care, infection prevention, maternal, newborn, and child health, and integrated management of childhood illnesses.

Christine Joy is particularly committed to advancing healthcare in resource-limited settings, with interests in non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Simulation-Based education, and capacity building. She is highly motivated, disciplined, and adaptable, with a strong dedication to professional excellence, integrity, and lifelong learning. She aspires to pursue PhD studies to further contribute to healthcare education and strengthen health systems.
