Lira University Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Andrew Ojulong has commended the staff for the effective and efficient teaching, research doing and administrative services delivered during the financial year, 2025/2026, ending.
Dr. Ojulong revealed that the University faculties and departments benefit the management by decentralizing operations, ensuring academic quality, and driving strategic growth, a practice that has greatly contributed to the steadfast growth of Lira University.
“You are the specialized operational units that streamline decision-making, facilitate faculty mentoring, and align localized goals with the university’s broader mission. The Top Management is grateful and appreciates the team spirit you have continued to exhibit,” Ag. VC said while addressing the University Management Committee on 22nd June 2026, at EMBA Hall.

On Lira University being the 21st-century institution, Dr. Ojulong said, we must continue focusing on the academic programs that accentuate digital transformation, data-driven decision-making, and interdisciplinary problem-solving to meet modern industry and community demands.
The Ag. VC encouraged Faculty Deans to manage and support research output, a practice that drives the university’s global reputation, attracts institutional grants, and fosters community engagement. “Department leaders are uniquely positioned to mentor junior staff, improve staff morale, and identify talent for leadership succession, please, selflessly do the needful for the benefit of all and the great university,” he advised.
In the vibrant field of management education, Dr. Ojulong said, the importance of research cannot be overstated. “A research-driven culture is a hallmark of academic excellence and a necessity for the Lira University staying relevant in the ever-evolving business scenery.
Dr. Ojulong noted that embracing such a culture can redefine the University’s role in academia, enhance the learning experience, and significantly contribute to societal and Lira University progress.

The Out-going University Secretary, Mr. Oyang Atubo Augustine lauded the university staff for according him mutual trust and respect during his 10-year tenure in office. “I am happy I am leaving a good legacy with Lira University at a high growing rate. This is attributed to team work from both the academic and administrative staff,” Mr. Oyang Atubo, whose contract ends on 30th June 2026, reveals. He served a two term 5-year contract, from 2016 when the university started.
He noted that several development projects have been accomplished during the time he has been in office. “I am prepared and ready to retire home, and I will be more excited and proud to learn that Lira university is endlessly growing,” Mr. Oyang Atubo adds.
Mr. Oyang Atubo revealed that the university management include operational decentralization, relieving central administration of day-to-day academic micro-management while departments handle specialized tasks.
On quality assurance and accreditation, Dr. Peter Owiny, the Director Quality Assurance, said one of the roles of the University Management Committee is to strive and standardize curriculum quality, with Faculty and departmental heads monitoring syllabus execution and student performance, ensuring compliance with national and international educational standards.
Among those present were University Bursar, Academic Regsitrar, all faculty Deans, Directors and Heads of Department
