Assoc. Professor of public administration
Mary Ejang is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Lira University, department of Public Administration and Management. She holds a PhD in Sociology, a Master’s degree in Population and Development and Bachelor Degree in Education; all from Makerere University-Uganda. Associate Professor Mary Ejang is the Dean Emeritus, Faculty of Management Sciences, Lira University from 2019 to 2024. She is a former Head of Department, Development Studies at Gulu University from 2013 to 2017.
Ejang has 22 years’ experience of university teaching from 2004-2026 with specialization in Gender, Project Planning, Population and Community Development.
Associate Professor Ejang is a distinguished scholar, a mentor, a researcher and consultant with proven ethical and professional track record. She is a reviewer of two reputable journals. As a scholar she has supervised over 50 Graduate research projects.
Mary is an awardee of International Research grants; Sida Sarec PhD Grant (2011), the Social Science Research Council (SSRC- 2013/2015) PhD Fellow, American Political Science Association (APSA-2015) PhD Fellow and a two-time Postdoctoral Fellow; Sida (2017) and Imaging Gender Futures in Uganda (IMAGENU- 2019).

As a Sociologist, Mary is passionate about the wellbeing of the under privileged groups of people especially women and the youth. Her research interest lies in the field of Social Sciences specifically Gender and Development, Education and Management where she has published in book chapters and peer reviewed journals.
