Lira University has released the list of Government sponsored students for the academic year 2024/2025 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery taking a lion’s share.
The admission list, signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng, who also doubles as the Chairperson of the Senate Committee, has students from across the country taking science and arts courses.
Prof. Ogwal Okeng noted that the admission was done centrally by the Public Universities Joint Admissions Committee, through Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). “It is completely a national merit admission, students compete nationally for Government sponsorships in Public Universities as per their A’ Level results,” Prof. Ogwal Okeng said.
Other groups of students still to be admitted are Government sponsored using Diploma Scheme and District Quota system, with the largest number coming from Privately Sponsored students scheme admitted by the University Admissions Board.
