Lira University VC Prof. Ogwal Okeng reappointed for 5 more years
On behalf of the Lira University Management Team, I wish to announce that the Chancellor of Lira University, Hon. Justice Dr. Benjamin Odoki, has reappointed Prof. Jasper Watson Ogwal Okeng as the Vice Chancellor, Lira University, for another 5-year term, effective 1st Nov. 2024.
This is in line with the powers conferred upon the University Chancellor by Section 31(4) of the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 as amended 2006.
Prof. Ogwal Okeng served in the office as Vice Chancellor from November 2019 to October 2024 and will continue serving in the same portfolio for the new term period.
An Advocate and Commissioner of Oath, Shamin Amolo, presided over the swearing in ceremony as members of the University Appointments Board witnessed. The event took place during the Board’s meeting held at the Intern Doctors Hostel on 30th Oct 2024.
While delivering his maiden speech, Prof. Ogwal Okeng promised to continue promoting and embracing team building spirit among staff and embracing consultations for vibrant decision making and effectively undertaking academic and development activities of the university.
Lira University, a public/government university, was founded in 2015, at Lira City, Northern Uganda, with a niche in health science training.
