Lira University’s Management Team have every reason to smile as the construction of the multi-billion shillings Administration block is likely to get done in a few months’ time.

The Management Team, led by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Andrew Ojulong, was excited to learn that only a few areas were being worked before the giant structure is handed over. This was during an impromptu site meeting held on 10th June 2026.

Among other sections of the building awaiting finishing are installing the lift system, the 360 seater auditorium, fitting electrical gadgets, final paint coating and reception.

The Project, titled, “The Construction Completion of the Proposed Lira University Administration Block”, with UPDF National Enterprise Corporation Works and Engineering (NEC) as the contractor, is expected to provide office space to several staff including the University Visitor (H.E The President), Chancellor, Council Chairperson and Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Ojulong said there was a dire need for the early finishing of the building to provide office space and lecture rooms for the increased number of staff and students respectively.

The University Secretary, Augustine Oyang Atubo revealed that they were expecting about shs 4 billion shillings to be released by the Ministry of Finance and Planning in July 2026 to offset pending payments to the contractor.
