President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest at the Lira University’s 6th Graduation ceremony scheduled to take place on Friday, January 17th, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng invited the President to grace the function.

The Graduation ceremony organized to take place at Lira University Main Campus will see a total of 581 graduands receive degrees and Post-Graduate Diplomas in different academic programmes. The graduands comprise of 338(58.2%) males and 243 (41.8%) females.

The theme for the 6th Graduation is: “Enlightening Futures: Empowering Minds, Transforming Communities”.

Lira University has experienced constant increment in student enrolment from its inception in 2016, attributed to the strong team comprising of the academic and non-academic staff we have.

Among the important guests to grace the occasion are; the 1st Lady and Minister of Education, Mrs Janet Museveni, Minister of Health, Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social services, Hon Betty Amongi, the Government Chief Whip, Hon Hampson Obua, Vice Chancellors from other universities, Members of Parliament from Lango sub-region, District Chairpersons from Lango sub-region, development partners and other leaders.

As a public entity, Lira University envisions being “a Beacon centre of Applied Sciences and Technology” and we shall get there by providing access to quality higher education, professional training, research and innovations for the delivery of appropriate services directed towards community transformation and conservation of biodiversity.

It is a routine and practice that Lira University hands academic documents (Transcripts and Certificates) to Graduates on the day of graduation ceremony so that they(graduates) can start using them for seeking job opportunities.
