The Presidential Industrial Hub, located at Lira University, has started training youths from the ten districts and Lira city in Lango sub region.
The Resident District Commissioner(RDC), Apac, Mr Abdul George, also the Hub Board Chairperson, lauded President Museveni for the initiative considered to train youth in various skills in order to create employment opportunities. He was addressing a meeting organised by the management of the Industrial hub on 19th July 2023.
Lira University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng praised President Museveni for the skilling project. He added that the State House and Lira University entered into an agreement in a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the latter donated land for the construction of the Industrial Hub.
“We are happy in this partnership with State House for the development of Lango sub region, and hope to push further so that it directly or indirectly benefits Lira University,” Prof. Ogwal Okeng notes.
The Industrial Hub has 5 training sections of Carpentry, Bakery, Welding and metal fabrication, Tailoring and Hair Dressing.
