The 1st International Lango Cultural Heritage and Tourism Conference kicked off with Traditional Lango games such as Coobo Akot (Spear game), Goyo Kwic(Coin game) and Pyem Cooro commonly known as “Omweso” and bow herp music was also played to entertain the guests.
The venue was Lira University.
Several people in their different capacities participated such as the Pakistan Committee, Miss Tourism Independent, Woman MP Lira District, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Bishop of West Lango Diocese, Students and many others.
Day 1 of the 1st International Lango Tourism Conference was drawn to an end by Rock climbing at Got Ngetta and a special evening at the historical residence of Late Dr. Apollo Milton Obote.
There were several activities involved such as storytelling, folktales, fables, riddles, goat roasting and refreshments were served.
Day 2 of the 1st International Lango Cultural Heritage and Tourism Conference was held at Margaritha Palace Hotel and the participants later on moved to Barlonyo Memorial Ground.
On February 21, 2004 a massacre was carried out by the LRA rebels in Barlonyo village, Ogur Sub County in Lira District. 121 people were killed, according to the figure on the memorial mark stone.
Since then it has been marked as a Lango Heritage and Tourist Site.
