Lira University undertakes shs7 billion Education Faculty Block construction

Lira University’s Shs 7 Billion project of constructing education faculty building is moving on at a high speed to beat deadline of completion by early 2021.
At the project site meeting Vice Chancellor, Professor Jasper Ogwal Okeng praised the government for funding the construction of a 3-floor education faculty block.
He noted that the facility will provide lecture rooms, science laboratories, computer labs, office space and others.
The VC said that students of Law Development Centre (LDC) will also study from the building effective January 2021.
Prof. Ogwal Okeng revealed that Lira University cherishes Professionalism, accountability and transparency, team work, gender responsiveness, concern for the elderly and people with disability.
The Vice Chancellor observed that the university provides access to Quality Higher Education, Research and Conducts Professional Training for the Delivery of appropriate Health Services directed towards Sustainable Healthy Community and Environment.
The University Estate Officer, Eng. Richard Enen said that the contractor, Bygon Enterprises Limited is still on track doing good job as required in the agreement.
Engineer Enen revealed that although the block has been roofed, there are still pending internal and external finishes.
The Parliament of Uganda established Lira University as the 8th Public University in Uganda in 2015.
Lira University is located in Ayere cell, Barapwo Ward, Lira City West Division, Lira City. The university covers a total area of 621 acres (251.3 hectares).
