As a public university we envision being “A BEACON CENTRE OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY” and we shall get there by providing access to quality higher education, professional training, research and innovations

About Lira University

Lira University is one of the Public Universities in Uganda. It started as a Constituent College of Gulu University in 2009 and attained autonomy as a fully-fledged Public University through an Act Parliament under Statutory Instrument 2015 No. 35 on the 16th July, 2015.It was established on a niche of training students in Health Sciences. It has the first University Teaching Hospital in Uganda.

Lira University Teaching Hospital

Lira University Hospital is the first University Teaching Hospital in Uganda. It is well known for training medical and allied health students. The hospital also offers clinical services to the communities in and around the University and sometimes even referrals for outside the Lango sub region. It is a 110 bed hospital
